Corn Maze

A few weeks ago we decided to head out to the pumpkin patch. We had always gone to the same
place every year. It was nice to actually go and find a pumpkin and pick it. However there isn't always a ton of things for the kids to do. For the amount of money we pay you would think the kids would have a lot to do. So, we opted to hit another place. It was a corn maze and had tons of things for the kids, however you do miss the experience of picking your own pumpkin. The boys had a blast, and I am happy with the decision to switch it up this year. We spent half the day there, and I'm sure if it wasn't for Colin needing a nap we might have stayed a little longer.

They had a ton to do that was free but of course they also had things that you could buy tokens for. Of course all the fun things that you have to pay for were the things that the boys wanted to do. The first thing Christian wanted to do was the bungee jump. We stood there and watch a few people go first, and then he was ready to go. At first he was so pumped about it, and even said he wanted to go high.

Getting all hooked up!

The face of some one who shows no fear!

Getting started.....

and going high.....

Then the fear set in. He wasn't jumping high for 1 minute and he was yelling he was ready to stop. Once he got off he said "that was cool!"
They kept saying they had a petting zoo with different kinds of animals, and we even bought a bag of food to feed them. However once we got over to that area they had one little white pig. That Colin loved!! He chased it all around. The pig wanted nothing to do with him, but he was determined to catch it. There was a small box that had 2 bunnies in it, sleeping and 1 goat. That was it. Talk about a great petting zoo. It only last about 5-10 minutes max, and we were told that the animals had eaten a lot that morning and most likely would not eat anything we tried feeding them.

Colin has become so independent and I love just watching him go about things by himself, and explore new things.

I just love his blue eyes!

They had a cow train and Christian was all about riding it, but Colin was not into it at all. The only way he would ride it was if I rode with him. This is the only picture I will post about the ride. For some reason Michael thought he would take picture of my trying to get into it and get out of it. The seats are really made for one person, but since Colin was not going to ride it alone the guy insisted I would fit just fine.

Christian loved the rope swing! I was so afraid that he would loose his grip and fly off that thing. The guy was swinging it so fast, and I just held my breath until it was over.

I Love how when Colin is playing he is so intense. He is in such deep thought!

They had an old plane that you could climb in and the boys loved it!

I love both of their little faces peeking out each window!

Even a real race car! Christian could not figure how to get in. He said "Mommy wear is the handle!" When I told him they didn't use a regular door handle, they climbed in through the window. He jumped in!

Smile!

This was our attempt at a half way decent picture of both of the boys. Christian was all about it, and Colin I still am not sure what he is doing. The look, and leaning on the pumpkin, and hand on his leg...how old are we?

I think the one thing I thought they would totally love would be the giant pillow. Kind of a huge air filled pillow and trampoline put together. Colin just ran around it, and then I caught him playing in the dirt, or as he said "I'm playing in the sand!"

Christian on the other hand....LOVED IT!! I kind of wish I had one in the back yard, how cool would that be?!?!

Over all we had a great afternoon, the weather was perfect and the boys had a ball. I think we will be hitting this place up next year. I hear during the winter months they set up a ice rink outside and have bon fires and ice skating.

It's HOT!!!

Weather in the south is pretty unpredictable. Literally one day it’s 80 degrees outside and two days later the high is 50, it’s just how it is. Now that we are in mid-October we should be enjoying the cool days of fall, but it’s the south and things don’t work like that. This past weekend the weather was GORGEOUS!! Mid 80’s Saturday thru yesterday, usually I love this kind of weather. However this weekend was a little different. We were busy all day Saturday so when we finally got home around 8 that evening I opened the front door only to have a burst of hot air hit me. The house was 78 degrees and rising! The kids’ were already asleep so I went around trying out every vent in the house to figure out why it wasn’t cooling. I could hear the air conditioner running outside, and could feel the air coming from every vent, it just wasn’t cool air. I turned the air off for about 10 minutes and restarted it thinking that that would fix it. Once I turned it back on the first 2-3 min all the air was cool but quickly turned kind of warm.

We managed through the night with the fans, and I prayed that come morning it would be working. Sunday we woke up, the house was somewhat cool but still never dropped down to what I had the thermostat to. I changed the air filter, which I was proud of myself for, and we left for church again hoping that the temp would stay down. Once we got home the house was HOT!! The thermostat was reading 83 inside! I now knew something was wrong with it so I just decided to turn it off completely. No sense running something and paying for it, if it wasn’t going to run properly. I opened the windows, turned on all the fans and hoped that there would be a breeze through the house. After about an hour I knew the kids were hot when they came into the living room with nothing but underwear on. I called my dad and he gave me the number to the ac guy and we would just have to deal with it until Monday.

So yesterday I called the AC guy to come out and take a look. He kind of laughed because he normally doesn’t receive calls this time of year for AC problems, mainly heat. This is funny because by tomorrow the high will be 50 and I will not need the air, I will need heat. That’s how the weather works in the south! Thankfully it was just a small piece that was broken on the unit itself outside, and they were able to replace it in about 15 minutes, and it wasn’t too expensive! Last night was much cooler….and I am so thankful our air is fixed and running great. Even if it’s only for 2 days, and then we are turning on the heat!

Catch-up

Wow it’s Thursday…where did the week go. We had a holiday on Monday, and I was off on Tuesday, so my week really started yesterday. I love this kind of week! We had a fabulous weekend. Michael was not traveling so we had a whole lot of family time….which is always the best. Lazy days, eating, playing, and tons of giggles! It just makes my heart happy just thinking about it! Life has been quite stressful lately and it was nice to put all those things on the back burner in our heads and enjoy the simple things in life.

Saturday the weather was great! So we ventured out to the park for a little bike riding. Colin amazed us with how well he is riding his tricycle. It was a Christmas gift last year, and now he’s able to put enough strength in his legs to get it moving. Christian does awesome, and I am seeing a new, bigger, bike in his near future. Maybe soon without the training wheels. We really need to get out more and let the kids ride, it was a nice evening.

Georgia won! So the night ended on a great note. Believe it or not Christmas is right around the corner. I have mentally started preparing for it. I might have already started a running list of things for the boys. Sunday we ventured out to the toy store to see what new things are out there. I had a few things in mind and made it a point it out to both of them. I am happy to say it made it to the list! Christian walked around chip board in hand writing frantically all the wonderful things he found. How sweet it is that a few items Colin seemed to like made it on his list as well. Christian gave him his own section on the paper….ahh brotherly love! It’s a wonderful thing.

We had some rain, which gave us even more or a reason to be lazy, relax and just enjoy being together as a family!

TGIF!!

I am so happy is Friday! It’s been a week, needless to say. The weather forecast shows it will be a little cool and I can’t wait. I hoping my mom will prepare a big ole pot of chili to enjoy! (HINT,HINT) Foot ball and chili…it doesn’t get any better than that.

Tomorrow is October the 1st! Which means only a few (short) weeks until Christmas….say it isn’t so! I had a dream the other night that it was Christmas eve and I had not bought a single thing. I was at work when it dawned on me, and I left and somehow ended up at Wal-mart with both boys buying their own Christmas gifts. Needless to say it panicked me once I woke up, and yesterday I started a little list of things that I think the boys would like. I’m actually thinking about starting, one so I don’t feel rushed, but also because I have a feeling that things might be a little crazier than normal this holiday season and I would like to have some things completed early.

Have you started your Christmas shopping?

Hope you have a Wonderful Fall Weekend!

What's been going on?!?!

Yep, a week since my last blog, sorry about that. I kind of feel like last week flew right by and here we are getting ready to start another week. Funny how when your younger time seems to go by so slow, and when your an adult, time flies!

Last week was crazy and we were all out of sorts all week. My parents headed down to Florida for vacation and the boys and I stayed at their house and took care of Ebony, the dog. Last Sunday I spent the day grocery shopping, cleaning and packing for the week, since I wanted to try and avoid coming back home at all. It felt like we were going on vacation. I packed food for breakfast, lunches, and dinners all week, plus all the clothes and the kids school stuff. We headed over Sunday after dinner. Even though we kept our same routine the whole week, doing it somewhere other than our house seem a little crazy, but we managed.

Monday after work we headed up to Christian's school for the book fair. He had gone with his class to preview the selection and all I had heard for about a week is about a "Dude Diary." Why, mainly because it had a lock and keys. Yeah, I'm sure that was the main thing that captured his attention. So we made sure we picked it up along with a few other books for the both of them. Christian had spent everyday writing and drawing in the diary, which my dad said he should call it a journal. It's definitely not a "diary" like I had growing up, it it for the total boy! He loves it and it helps with his writing and reading skills so I guess I can't complain to much.

One day Colin got attacked by ants at daycare. I went and picked him up, and was informed that he had gotten bitten a few times. They never could find an ant pile but they took all his clothes of to make sure there were no little ants left. I checked him out and only saw a few small spots on his legs, and thankfully he's not allergic to them. Maybe just a little itchy but all is good. That night while in the bath I think I counted like 20 different bites all on his legs and lower back. He never complained about them and we keep a close eye on them.

Thursday I was off and Michael came back in town, and so did my parents.

Saturday night my parents took the boys along with Jadon to see The Lion King in 3d! It was Colin's first movie, and he did great!! We took that time to have a date night! We did a little shopping and went out for dinner. It was so nice to have some adult time, and catch up on us. With everything that has gone on this past year we SO needed it.

I'm glad last week is over, it was busy and crazy. Along with other unexpected things the week also ended a lot more stressful than we would have like. I'm ready to start a new week!

Hope you all had a fabulous week and weekend!!

Colin's Get-A-Way Weekend

While Christian and I were enjoying our weekend together, Colin was having a blast himself. My whole family (with the exception of my parents, sister and 1 uncle) all live in Kentucky. In fact all with in 30 minutes of each other. My parents grew up living next door to each other so the family's just kind of blended, I LOVE IT!! We are a very close family, and I enjoy anytime we get to see them.

They drove up Friday and went straight to my grandparents house in Shelbyville. They had dinner and enjoyed time out in their garden.

Years back they deciding to make hand imprints of each grandchild and great-grand child to use as stepping stones. I to this day I get picked on about mine, since I pressed down a little harder and left pretty deep prints. Colin placed his hands in my hands! Too cute!!

Adelyn smelling the flowers

Saturday morning they drove out to my aunt and uncle house (my mom's brother) to spend the rest of the weekend. They have 3 kids, Shelli, David and Amanda, and 10months ago Shelli and Chris had little Kendall!! She is a doll!! I am sure she enjoyed playing with Colin and Adelyn!!
I'm sure they loved playing with all Kendall's toys!

Making sure Grandma Tootie gets water to grow.....

Shelli and little Miss Kendall..... (Shelli has her own blog, check hers out here!)

Sunday afternoon my dad's side of the family hosted a family reunion. Colin and Adelyn had so much fun running around and playing games.

My aunt Pam (my dad's sister) bought Colin a fishing rod and took him fishing. It had a little red fish on the end so he was so excited that he caught a fish!

They had a prize table and he choose a badminton game, should be fun playing!

Colin and his new fishing rod!

Checking out some of the fish that was caught that day.

Resting and enjoying a snack...

Monday on the way home my parents decided to stop at the train museum in Bowling Green. Colin LOVES trains!!

Checking out all the trains....

They even had real trains out side, and they had so much fun playing on them

I am so glad that my parents took Colin with them, and even happier that he had a great time! Such fun memories made with the grandparents!
