What a year!?!? Overall it was a great year. We had good times and bad times, but we made it through and we learned A LOT!! I can remember writing about last years, and the thought about how 2011 would go. Now looking back it didn’t go any way I had mentally planned it, some good and some not so good.
The main thing that took place in 2011 revolved completely around Michael’s job. We have been working so hard to move forward with his career in his company and trusted God in the process. We learned a lot about his job, his company, and most of all about ourselves. Personally I have learned more about myself than I ever have. I have grown, did things I didn’t think I was capable of doing. All along the way trying to build a closer relationship with God. I think Michael would say the same thing about himself.
The boys have grown so much! Becoming more independently each day and growing their relationship as brothers. There are 4 years between them, and sometimes it’s like there are twins. They love each other so much, and play so well together. I absolutely love watching them together and I hope it continues as they get older.
Our new years was low key, which is perfect for me. Sitting at home, playing with the boys, eating, watching TV and just being a family. I stayed awake to mid-night (go me!) and kissed each of my guys!
I’m not sure what 2012 holds for us, but know that God holds this years in his hands. There will be ups and downs and we trust in God that he will get us through it. He has already walked thru the year and we are going to follow him.
I make resolutions each year, some I keep and some I don’t. It’s just fun to do.
Here are a few that are running through my mind today:
-Grow my relationship with God
-Become the best wife and mother I can be.
-Soak up every moment with my boys, and family. They are my world!
-Lose some weight (I think that’s everybody!)
-Get more organized.
-Finish projects around the house, I start and then can’t seem to finish.
Plus a couple of that I’m keeping between me, Michael and God! He knows what they are and we are hoping that together we can meet them!

Christmas 2011
Well It seemed like Christmas snucked up on us this year, is it just me or did the year fly by?!?! I had a goal to be done with my Christmas shopping by November 31st this year, and enjoy the holiday season. I had all my decorations up the weekend prior to Thanksgiving, and YES by the 31st I was done shopping!! With the exceptions of small odds and in's things that I picked up while out anyway. I felt so proud of my self for finishing. It really does make you enjoy the holidays more when your not running around with everyone else fighting for that perfect gift. Plus the boys are still at a great age just about anything other than clothes they will love!
Michael came back in town the Thursday before Christmas and was planning on spending the time home Thur the first. I took off the whole week between Christmas and New Years so we spent the whole week as a family of four! It was AMAZING and went by too quick.
Christmas Eve I spent cleaning the whole house. I knew being off the following week I didn't want to spend time each day cleaning. Plus my parents were coming over Christmas morning to watch the boys open their gifts and eat breakfast.
The true meaning of CHRISTmas!!!
Christian had gifts for everyone that he bought a few weeks before at school during their Holiday Bazaar. He loves shopping there!! He does it by himself and picks out gifts for everyone. He does an amazing job picking out things for each person. He really puts a lot of thought in to each one. He had been begging to let us open our gifts on Christmas Eve. So that night we opened our gifts from him, and the boys opened their 1 gift. Which is always pj's for them to wear, but it's still a gift so I don't think the mind.

Michael got a new coffee mug, Colin got new silly bands that glow in the dark and I received a pretty butterfly. He said there is a clip on the back so I could put it anywhere. We all loved them!!

I think this will be the last year I try and get matching pj's. Christian is at the age where he is becoming so opinionated about what he wears so the days of mommy having him and Colin match are coming to a quick end!

Christmas morning.....
We told the boys the night that they were not allowed to get up supper early. If they woke up and the sun was out they could get us up, otherwise stay in bed. I set my alarm for 6 to go a head and put breakfast in the oven to cook, with the thinking that they would wake up around 7. Michael got up at 8 and jumped in the shower, just as he got out the boys woke up and my parents were at the front door. I could not have asked for better timing. They were able to see the whole show!!
The boys ran in the living room and Christian jumped right in. Colin I think was still half a sleep and took him about 10 minutes or so to understand that it was OK to open presents, since I had spent the past few weeks telling him not to touch the presents. Once he started going there was no stopping him.
Christian loaded up on new Lego's. The Kingdom series, I think he got ever set made. He added a couple more DS games to his collection, new art supplies, movies, a new bible, and a few other things.
It was all about Playmobil for Colin. He got the school, a bus, a fire truck and garbage truck. Scooby-doo toys and movies, and a few games.
Each of them got there very own pillow pet, which they had been asking for.
Christian gave my parents their gifts. We kind of figured out the my dad would be receive a tie. He had been asking him for about a week or so if he wore ties to work. However we didn't realize it would be pale blue with white polka-dots, and Santa and played jingle bells!! My dad loved it, and wore it all morning. My mom got a porcelain stocking thing, and she used it that day to hold some snacks at their house. It worked perfect and Christian felt so good that they each loved their gift.
My parents left and headed to my sister's house to see what they all got. We laid around for a few hours playing. Michael and Christian put together about 1000 Lego's, and Colin and I put together his new school. Which by the way, if you ever buy anything Playmobil be prepared to spend a good amount of time reading directions and putting all 200 pieces together. Oh, and there is a tool in there to help you which I found after the thing had been put together and about tore up my fingers. Just saying.
We cleaned up and headed over to my parents for lunch and finish celebrating the day. The kids were wound up!! Lunch was great, as always, and then the kids enjoyed opening a few more gifts.
Over all we had a great day! We spent the time celebrating Jesus birthday and spending time with family. It was a great Christmas, we are truly blessed!

Thanksgiving!
Just about every Thanksgiving we spend the day at my parents eating and normally watching football, while planning out our black Friday deals! This year was completely different. Michael was not going to be able to travel back home, so it was just the boys and I. My sister and her family had been invited to some friends for Thanksgiving, so my mom opted not to cook. I was kind of bummed since I love Thanksgiving food, but totally understood not cooking for so few people.
We woke up and spent most of the morning being lazy. We enjoyed a nice breakfast and followed up by catching the Macy's parade. That afternoon we headed to my parents to chill out.
It was nice to just relax and not worry about running around.
My dad's birthday is around Thanksgiving and sometimes it actually falls on Thanksgiving day. This year it happened to land on the Sunday following Thanksgiving. Since we didn't have a typical Thanksgiving meal, we decided to get together Saturday night for dinner and to celebrate his birthday.
I kind of enjoyed it a little better....we had steaks! Yummy!!
After dinner he opened his presents and if you know my dad he LOVES popcorn. I think if it was ever made into a food group by itself he would live on it! So it only seemed fitting for him to have his own pop corn machine. My mom picked up the machine, and we loaded his up with oil, popcorn and flavor salt.
Of course we had to try it out....and it was quite yummy!

Thanksgiving lunch with Christian!
The Thursday before Thanksgiving Christian’s school hosted the annual thanksgiving feast during lunch. I remember when I was in elementary school my mom coming and eating lunch with me, and I look forward to it each year with Christian. He looks forward to it as well. Normally I am working and take an little longer lunch and head over, but this year the exterminators were coming to do our yearly treatment at the house so I just took the day off! So Colin was able to join in on the fun! He loves Christian’s school. He points it out every time we pass and the whole morning he kept asking if it was time to go! Lunch was good, as good as school cafeteria food can get. Christian loved having us there, and even showed Colin off!!
The only thing about having fun things like this planned at school was he always wants to get checked out afterwards and go home! I don’t blame him, I always did and never was. I normally do, however I had a couple more errands to run and it’s easier and quieter with only 1 child. Plus he was going to recess and watching a movie the rest of the day. I made a deal with him and picked him up in car pool that afternoon, so it was all good!

Halloween
I literally felt like we just had Halloween, and here we are again deciding on what costume we want and preparing for trick-or-treating. Where has the year gone?!?!
I asked Christian a while back what he wanted to be for Halloween and he just couldn't decide. Finally he said he wanted to be the blue power ranger. I'm not really sure why, he doesn't watch the show. I remember my nephew watching it when he was younger and it was not any were near as violent as it is today. However that was the only thing he said he liked. Colin on the other hand is still at an age were I can make the decision for him and he's happy.
The Saturday after we left the corn maze we headed to party city to see what we could find. I am not a huge Halloween fan, but when you have kids it all about them. Growing up we never went trick-or-treating, we always attended the fall festival at the church. Party City was crazy, surprise, surprise! We were not there 5 minutes and Christian saw the Power Ranger outfit, in blue and red. There was a big "sold out" sign across the picture. I asked the guy there if they would be receiving any more in and he said that the power ranger outfit were so popular that they were sold out every were. He even said you could not order them online. So we had to figure out something else for him to be.
My mom, so kindly, gave the boys a Frankenstein monster she got at the Hallmark store, that sings the "Monster Mash" and dances. Ever since they got it Colin has been saying he wanted to be a monster. We found the cutest little monster costume! Christian walked around for about 10-15 minutes and finally decided on a storm trooper from Star Wars.
