Ode to the bathing suit......
Like most women, I hate the part of summer where you have to put on a swim suit. I mean I love the water, the ocean, laying out in the sun and all, but having to put on a swim suit…UGH!! I have never been one who has been 100% happy with my body; there was always something I hated. I still put on the swim suit and stayed in the water or walked around with a towel or cover up. I guess we can blame society for that. Open any magazine, turn on any TV channel or pull up the Internet and all you see are “perfect” women. Don’t get me wrong there are ladies out there who are totally fine with there bodies; I am not one of those women. Now that I have gotten older, had two precious boys my body defiantly doesn’t look the same. I would never trade that either. However I am not opposed to “fixing” any problems I can. Toward the end of March I told my self I would work out, watch what I eat in hopes to reward my self with a pretty new bathing suit. So on March 30th; to be exact I started walking, which now I am up to running. I try to go 5 days a week, but if I don’t make it, it’s alright. I am averaging between 8-10 miles a week, and have gotten to the point where it’s just routine. I go right after work before picking up the boys so I can go home afterwards and not think about it. I’m not going to lie, it still sucks. Its kind-of getting easier; but not really. I don’t think if it ever got easy it wouldn’t be working; I try and push myself so I will see those results. I knew that Memorial Day weekend we would be going out of town to visit family and staying at my aunt and uncle’s house, which I might add have a pool in there back yard. The boys would be begging to go swimming, and I would need to be with them……..in a bathing suit. I know they are family but still, it’s all about how I feel. I wanted to wait until the weekend before to give me the most time, but I figured if I didn’t find one that weekend I wouldn’t have much time during the week and might end up not getting on at all. So this past weekend, I asked my mom to go out with me. I knew she would be honest and tell me what looked good and what didn’t. If you remember from an earlier post I found a super cute bathing suit that I loved…..but not the price. I said if I reached my goal I would reward myself with the nice swim suit. So the first week of working out, I went over to the mall and tried it on. It was cute on the rack but not on me. At least I knew what I didn’t like about my self in it, and knew what I needed to work hard at. Over the next few weeks, I had a change of heart and not matter how well I did with working out it was still pretty pricey. So I found another one that I loved, and that was cheaper. I really wanted to go and try it on, until last week. I knew if I spent good money on a bathing suit I wanted it to last a couple of years. If I bought one now knowing I wanted to loose more weight would I get 2 to 3 years or more wear out of it?? It was over at the mall so my mom and I went the opposite direction and stay closer in town and went to Belk’s and Kohl’s. At Belk’s I was looking through the racks and stumbled across a red bathing suit that looked just like the one in the magazine. I picked it up and yep it was the same one! I didn’t want to try it on, what if I fell in love with it? After trying it on, putting it back on the rack, and going to Kohl’s the bathing suit won. My mom said “some things are just meant to be!” After taking a store survey that gave me 20% off, I bought it!! I love it…I feel great in it…and Michael approves so that’s bonus points! I do have more weight I want to lose, but bathing suits are not like clothes and some how they seem to fit after a little bit of weight loss, I guess it’s the spandex. I will still work hard to lose the weight, but in the mean time enjoy my new bathing suit!

We are alive....I promise
Yes we are alive…I promise! We have been so busy I have really slacked on my blog! Sorry, to all 3 of you that read this! We have been catching up with old friends, spending a lot of time outside playing in this beautiful weather we have been having, and just everyday life! I have a few posts already for this week so I hope to catch back up. April is quickly coming to an end and I can’t believe it will be May. I really hope I will be able to stay up on what’s going on with us in May. I was looking at the calendar and it’s pretty full! Birthday’s, family in town, work stuff, a wedding, and we are going out of town just to name a few.
I am still working out trying to get healthy and lose some weight. Working out is going great, I am averaging between 6 – 10 miles a week! The weight on the other hand is not coming off as quickly as I would like. I am going to try and shake things up a little in hopes to have a good weigh in this week. Two weeks ago I lost another 2 pounds, and last week I gained 1. It’s alright, I can really tell in my clothes so even if the scale doesn’t again with me I do!
Hope you all have a great Monday!

Friday weigh in....
It's Friday, and I am excited to start the weekend! I am proud of myself for keeping up the walking this week, 6.54 miles so far! It rained yesterday so I wasn't able to make it out, but I am very thankful for that rain. The pollen here has been HORRIBLE! Everything is covered, and the air even looks yellow! We where told be the weather man to stay in if possible, the pollen count has been way over 5000! It's considered bad when it's over 120!!
Today was weigh in day, and I must say I was a little nervous standing on the scale. What if I gained weight, or didn't lose any? Well, I am happy to say I have lost 2 pounds this week! YEAH ME! I'm very excited about that, and it makes me want to continue working hard!
I hope everyone has a fabulous weekend!

It’s Friday…..and spring is here! I am very excited about this warm weather. I am very proud of myself this week as I started walking/jogging. I will be investing in some new pants this weekend, since that pants I currently own don’t seem to want to stay up over my bottom when I jog. Trust me it’s a sight to see! Jog a little, pull up my pants, jog a little more, pull them up again, and repeat the process. So far I have walked 6.4 miles this week, I have felt good every day I have walked; such an accomplishment. I am the kind of person that wants instant results, and I know that nothing will change overnight. I am a little discouraged this morning, as I weighted myself and I am a pound up! I know just by walking 3 days I wasn’t going to lose 5 pounds, but I didn’t think I would gain weight. I have been watching what I eat, and drink. I have cut the amount of coke and sweet tea out dramatically. I have gone a couple of days without any. I don’t eat a lot, I have cut my intake of food down, yet I have stilled gained weight. I have given myself 2 months to see what I can do, and so far I am not impressed. If I could see some small ounce of a result, it would motivate me to work harder. I’m not giving up, but I am a discouraged, and I’m sure it will be on my mind while I walk it out later. I hope next week to have better results. I am going to try and not get on the scale until next Friday, so I hope it looks better than it did today. I’ll be going to the grocery store this weekend so I will pick up some healthy snacks to keep me motivated. So here is to a better 2nd week!
I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend, it’s Easter! Remember why we celebrate it, and who we celebrate it for!

What a Beautiful weekend we had! To make it even better Michael had the whole weekend off…that’s a first since before Thanksgiving! We woke up Saturday and I was planning on meeting my mom at the park for a walk when my car would not start! Oh yeah…I figured our first car problem would be with Michael’s truck since it’s paid off! My car battery was dead as a door nail! So after about 3 hours of messing with it, we bought a new battery and it works perfectly! We finished the day cleaning around the house, the garage mainly, and playing outside!
I love when the weather is great, the boys enjoy being outside! Sunday was our normal "family day" and we spent the day running around, since this is the only time we can as a family! We bought a new office chair for our new desk we purchased last week, and while we were at Office Depot Mr. Colin walked right into a glass table, that happened to be his perfect height and WHAM…busted his head! I must admit he is very prone to forehead injuries; it seems that’s the only part of his body that gets hurt. He is such a busy body and gets going too fast for his little feet to keep up. He was fine about 5 minutes later, just took off once again.
On another note….I measured the distance from our house to the front of the subdivision and back and it is 3 miles. So I am going to start by walking it in hope to be able to run it. I have a plan to give myself until Memorial weekend to see how much weight I can lose. That is the weekend I will be heading up to Kentucky to see family for a visit and my cousins wedding and would love to have a new dress! Plus I found a really cute bathing suit, and if I meet my goal I am going to splurge on it! So here is to me working my bottom off....literally!!
For you viewing pleasure......

I wish I could pull off a 2 piece bathing suit, but I have had 2 kids...my body isn't like it was when I was in high school. I thought this was a really cute one piece!
