Randoms....

So life as usual is crazy. So I thought I would fill you in on a few things that have been going on in the Milam household.

-I signed up for another Kidsingment sale! It's only about 3 weeks away and I haven't even started pulling things out, pricing or anything. I got to get moving!

-We decided a few weeks ago that our current toy situation has gotten a little out of control. I work really hard to keep them organized in the boys rooms, but they have more than they need so we decided to turn our un-used guest room into a full out play room. Thanks to Pinterest for all the ideas, and a trip to ikea the room is coming along. I can't wait to finish and share!

-I am preparing my self for my diet, or should I say Life style change. I don't think I have ever been happy about my weight, a full post to come about that. And I have come to the conclusion that I can not take a pill and wake up and be super skinny. I went to the grocery today and bought all my healthy food. I have washed my veggies and fruit so it's easier to stay on track through out the week. Since it's all clean, cut, and individually packaged I can't say I didn't have time.

-My cousin is having a give-a-way on her blog, it's a Beauty give-a-way so check it out! Her blog is HERE!!

-My other cousin found out recently that her and her hubby are expecting their first little one!! I'm so excited for them! Congrats Dalyn and Jacob! Follow her pregnancy HERE.

-Last night I had a much needed girls night out! Dinner at Longhorns, yummy, and a movie, Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol! It was good, super suspenseful but Tom Cruise is looking a little rough.

-Since re-arranging our guest room both Colin's and Christian's room have received an update. Mainly Colin's room. It is no longer a little boys rooms, and totally looks like a big boys room. Oh, how that makes me sad. Maybe we need to have another baby....hmmmm!!! (Nope, not pregnant, just making a comment!)

Well I guess that about sums it up.

Here's to a beautiful new week!

Yeah, we are still here....

Yep it's holiday time, which means my blogging ends up on the end of my to-do list. A lot has been going on, our anniversary, Thanksgiving, a wedding, and a baby or two, a birthday and of course preparing for Christmas, along with our daily routines there seems to not be enough hours in the day to complete everything. I mean I could get everything done, but I would have to give up sleep, and that's not going to happen! Lets see if I can get caught up before Christmas comes. I can always hope!!

Our Anniversary!!

I honestly can't believe we just celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary!! Time really flies by!! I always envisioned where and what we would be doing for our anniversary and oh my have things changed. I knew we would spend it somewhere tropical. We didn't of course, and honestly that's just fine by me. I am beyond thrilled to actually spend that day together more than being at the beach. We didn't spend our 9th together so it was super important to spend out tenth together, I didn't even care where either. We ended up getting away for a couple of nights just the two of us. Which was SO needed. I know most people are not fully aware of our living situation, one day I would love to elaborate, but for now just know it was great and we enjoyed every minute of it. The boys spent a few days with my parents which they always love. Michael and I were able to spend quality time together, reconnect and even do a little Christmas shopping. I am more in love with him today than I have ever been! The past 10 years have been great, and I am looking forward to the next 50 years!

We are alive...I promise

I think the title says enough. We are still here! Things have been a little crazy and for some reason there are not enough hours in a day to get accomplished what I want to do. Unfortunately blogging has ended up at the bottom of my daily to-do list. I think about it every day, especially since I am pretty much up to date on all my “blogger friends” blogs. Mainly because I catch up while I’m at work during my down time. I have every intention to update at night once the boys are in bed at 8, but honestly I am so exhausted that I normally fall asleep on the couch around 8:30. I know I’m so old! Between working full time, keeping up things around the house, home work, dinner, laundry….the list goes on and on…(I think you see where I’m going!) the day ends and another day goes without blogging. Many of you loyal readers, well those of you that still check to see if I have updated, know what’s going on in my, our family’s life. If you don’t trust me it gets a little stressful! I promise to keep updating, maybe not every day but a whole lot better that I am currently doing!

Sacrifice

Noun: Surrender for the sake of something else; Something given up.

I guess in life at one time or another we have all sacrificed something. It might be something small or large. No matter what a sacrifice is a sacrifice.
Do we all sacrifice things in hope to be rewarded something greater in the future? Do we sacrifice until it hurts or just until it’s uncomfortable? Or do we sacrifice because that’s what God did for us?

We (my family) are currently traveling on a path that started 2 ½ years ago, a path that we prayed for, a path that we have trusted God with. God has been amazing! Over this past 2 ½ years we have sacrificed a lot. So much, at times we do question it. Is it worth all of this? What will the outcome be? Can we do this? I must remind my self of what Jesus did for all of us, he gave his life! When I think about that, it makes what we are doing seem so small.

I guess today is a day that the sacrifices we are currently making are weighing more on me than normal. No one ever said that it would be easy. We stated this journey with God by our sides, and we will end it the same way.

No matter what life gives us, we must in return give it to God. He is way more capable of handling it than we are. So today as I am constantly reminded of the path God has laid out for us, and the sacrifices we are making, I am thinking of the ultimate sacrifice he made for us.

Let’s get physical!!

It’s that time again…warm weather…less clothes…and I am not ready for that! So I have starting changing my eating habits, and will be heading to the park to start running/walking again. I did great last year and lost about 25 pounds total. Since then I have kept it off, but still need to lose about 35 more pounds! I am ready to get out there. I enjoy the time alone, and being outside, and with things in my life pretty crazy I will also use it at de-stressing!

I have set small goals to meet, and with everything one I reach I’ll reward myself with a little something to keep me motivated.

Plus I bought a kicking bathing suit last year, and however I did look good in it, this year I want to look fantastic

Look who's a BIG BOY!!

After about 6 months or so of putting it off, I finally decided to change Colin's crib into a BIG boy toddler bed. He wasn't trying to get out of his crib, it was more that I didn't want to face the fact that he is growing up way to fast. I guess in some small way if he was still in a crib he would still be my baby boy, not really sure he would like it when is 5, but hey a mom's gotta try!

Michael has been all for it for sometime now, he has just been waiting on me. So a couple of weeks ago I said lets go. Michael changed it so fast I wouldn't have had time to change my mind. Colin LOVES it! He's able to climb in it by himself, and feels so much more independent! No matter how old he will get, or what kind of bed he is sleeping in...he will always be my little boy!

Happy New Year!!!

Another year has gone by, and way too fast! We have a great year, and are looking forward to what 2011 has in store for us. A lot has happened with our family this year, mainly the past 4 months, (more on that later!) and if it’s any indication for next year we will be having one of the craziest years ever!

Christian finished Kindergarten and entered 1st grade. I can’t believe that! He turned six, again this year in style with a few of his closest friends in Disney World. His love of fire trucks and police cars is still there. He received a “fire” theme room for his birthday, thanks to Grandmother and Buddy. Has grown up so much, and seems to be a little man inside a 6 year old body! He is so smart, and reads so well. He has done great in school and loves to draw and color. He defiantly has a little bit of an artist in him.

Colin turned 2! He is learning so many things every day and is talking up a storm. Mostly words only I understand but boy he will go on and on. He acts like he’s six and can do anything Christian can do. He adores Christian!! He loves to color and play cars with him. He has found a couple of new friends in Woody and Buzz, and Christmas for him was just about all Toy Story!

I have been working, and trying to manage a family and house all at the same time. I have loved every minute of it, and I am so sad the boys are growing up so fast. Michael’s job has changed course, hugely, and we are adjusting to a new kind of life. As always we are thankful for everything that has happened this year. The good and the bad we thank God for it all. God has led us on a path this past year that has been exhausting, stressful, difficult, humbling, encouraging, and thrilling all at the same time. He has tested us individually and as husband and wife and are amazed with the outcome. We have grown as a family, and grown in our marriage, more than we ever imagined. We are excited to see what God has in store for us in 2011! We know HE is leading us on this journey, and are following his every step.

Hope everyone has a happy and safe New Year!

North Carolina or Bust....

We have been really busy lately and I have slacked on my blogging. About two weeks ago Michael received a call to go and temp a store in North Carolina, so we have been preparing for him to leave this morning. Other than work, we have been spending a lot of family time. We would love Michael to have a store of his own, and in order to get there you have to do a little traveling. The kids and I already have a couple of trips planned to go and visit, and are going to be staying busy in the mean time to help the time pass quickly! I will be trying hard to keep up with the blog so Michael can keep up with it too, but I'm gonna be honest...it might get pushed to the side since I'll be kicking it by myself! We are very excited about the opportunity we have been given and are excited to see what doors God opens for us.

Blogging.......

I must admit that when I started a blog it was to keep in contact with family, let them know what was going on in our lives especially since I was pregnant at the time. I decided to start one when a couple of girls I went to high school had one and I became addicted to reading them. Over time I slacked off, and just recently picked it back up and I really enjoy it. (When I get around to posting.) I know there are other websites out there such as face book, twitter, My Space that keeps people in contact with friends but there is really something different about blogging. It’s mine, I can write whatever I feel, and some people may like it and some may not. I have a few blogs that over time I have found and become addicted to. They write about anything and everything in their lives. The good, the bad, and the ugly. In my opinion the blogging world is huge! You always hear people ask, “are you on face book?” and 9 out of 10 times they are, but I am finding more and more people starting their own blogs. I know it’s weird but I read other people’s blogs and feel like I personally know them….I know crazy! You find yourself becoming invested in what they have to say. Sometimes you can relate to them and you sometimes feel “at least I’m not the only one.” I have found blogs by mothers, who share parenting tips, and I admit I steal them. I found websites by family’s who have lost a child, and my heart breaks with them, girls who struggle with self confidence and self esteem issues and what they have done to overcome them. Blogs by expectant mothers excited about bringing a new child into the world, blogs following couples getting ready to be married and start their lives together. There is at least one blog out there that anyone can relate to on any given day. I have even convinced a few people to start their own, and I do enjoy reading what they have to say. I love people to read mine and comment, I comment on other blogs. I hope that throughout my blog people can relate to me, take something away from what I have to say or just enjoy reading about my crazy life. Never the less, please read, leave comments, good or bad I can take it. I want to keep up with my blog in hope that one day I can look back and share my little stories with my boys when they are older. Whether it’s about my family, my job, my hobbies or whatever is on my mind on any day, that is what I’ll blog about. This is my life, it’s what GOD has given me and I am just documenting it from my perspective.
