Stomach bug...please go!

Apparently the stomach bug has made it's way through the Milam family. It all started last Sunday night, when I heard Colin in his room a little after midnight only to go check on him to find he was covered in throw up, and had been laying in it. Thursday came and Michael was in bed all day with it, only to start feeling as close to 100% right before he left. This morning at around 5:45 I hear Christian crying and running into our bathroom only to nearly miss the toilet. He has been complaining of a tummy ache all day. I (knock on wood) have yet to be the only person in the family that has been able to escape the terrible bug. I'm hoping I do, we have a very exciting weekend planned and I don't want to be sick!

North Carolina or Bust....

We have been really busy lately and I have slacked on my blogging. About two weeks ago Michael received a call to go and temp a store in North Carolina, so we have been preparing for him to leave this morning. Other than work, we have been spending a lot of family time. We would love Michael to have a store of his own, and in order to get there you have to do a little traveling. The kids and I already have a couple of trips planned to go and visit, and are going to be staying busy in the mean time to help the time pass quickly! I will be trying hard to keep up with the blog so Michael can keep up with it too, but I'm gonna be honest...it might get pushed to the side since I'll be kicking it by myself! We are very excited about the opportunity we have been given and are excited to see what doors God opens for us.

Cake Anyone???

Last Sunday mom and I took a cake class. It was a class about Fondant, the icing you see on cakes that look like sheets of icing. Any cake you see with it most of the times are very beautiful, so we thought we would give it a go. We now know why those cakes are so expensive, they are hard work. The class was from 1-4, and we easily could have gone a few more hours to tweak our cakes. Plus it's very hard work, my arms felt like jello afterwards. You knead the icing over and over and it uses a lot of upper body. We had a great time, and really enjoyed the class. There's another one in a couple of months we might hit, so stay tuned! Enjoy our works of art.

First Day of School

Monday was the big day....Christian started 1st grade!! I can’t believe how fast the summer has gone by, but now it’s time to get down to business. We had a great year last year, and I’m hoping that this year will be just as good. Since the county we live in is known for our schools, I’m a little worried about the load for him. I grew up in the same school system and what he will be learning this year I didn’t learn until almost 3rd grade. I know he’ll do great, I guess it’s just momma fears! Here’s to a great year

Disney World...Day 4

Today we spent the whole day, 11 hours to be exact at the Magic Kingdom. It was so much fun. I think by far this is my favorite park, there is so much to see and do it’s easy to spend the whole day there. We headed out early and caught the monorail over to the park. We started off by riding Space Mountain, since it was close for repairs last year and it’s a popular ride we wanted to hit it early. Christian and I got in line and walked our way through space and boarded our space ship. Christian did great on it, considering it was in the complete dark and a fast ride.

We hit all the major rides, some twice and was able to catch the parade. It was hot so we took many trips inside the gift shops to cool down. We went and toured Mickey’s house and waited about 45 minutes in line to meet him and Minnie Mouse. The wait seemed long, with the heat and dealing with 2 very sleepy kids we finally made it. We walked into a little room and where greeting by both Mickey and Minnie. Colin loves Mickey Mouse, but that’s his stuffed Mickey. This Mickey was real, it moved and touched him! He made sure he never took his eye off of him the whole time.

I will say for anyone that is thinking about visiting the magic kingdom, or any park for that fact, use the fast pass system. It was a lot more crowded this year, and being able to use a “fast pass” on most popular rides is a blessing. You swipe your ticket, and you get another ticket to return between two times. Then you get to skip the lines and walk right onto the ride! It’s great!

We left and seemed like we barely made it back to the hotel! Needless to say both boys fell asleep early and stayed asleep the whole night.
