Busy...

Busy…Busy…Busy…that’s really all I can say. Michael left on Thanksgiving day to head back to North Carolina, and we haven’t stopped since!! With Christmas shopping, wrapping, baking, school, and parties….whew. I’m ready for a break. I was off all last week and had hoped to have gotten a lot done, and I guess I did, but I could have done more. Christian finished up his last week of school before the break, we had ice one morning and school was delayed, and of course a party. Colin was with me the whole week, so come this past Monday for returning to work/daycare he wanted nothing to do with it. He got so spoiled, and I admit I loved every minute of it. Christian was a little jealous he wasn’t able to stay home with me, but enjoyed being a car rider every day, and leaving early the day of his party while the other kids finished up the day. I had a work party, and did all my baking! I’m very proud that I did all the baking this year without my mom doing it for me! I have been done with my shopping for about 2 weeks, so I can sit back and relax while everyone else is panicking to find those last minute gifts. Plus everything is wrapped! I accomplished my grocery shopping last night, with both boys, and having only 2 registers opened at 6 o’clock in the evening! Now we can relax and wait for the big day to arrive! The house is cleaned, food prep is finished, and we are excited to see Michael on Friday night! He will be home sometime after dinner, and we can’t wait! It will have been a month since he left, I think the boys are more excited to see him than Christmas actually being here. We are planning a low key, laid back Christmas weekend. Spending time as a family, visiting with our extended family, and eating way too much! But hey, it’s the holidays!

Hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas!!

Um...what was that?!?!?

A couple of weeks ago on my lunch I needed to run by the bank, so I jumped on one of the “know” main roads and headed out. I travel this road quite often, so when I turned on to it I turned the radio up and was just cruising down the road. The street is completely straight, and have exit ramps to leave the road. As I mosey on down the road I notice this big sign that normally isn’t there…..and thought “did I just see that?” I continue down a little more and see another sign about the same size on the opposite side of the road so once I passed it I turned around to see what it said. Puzzled once again. The first thought that came to my mind was, a church or group must be having a scavenger hunt. My theory was quickly shot, when about 3 miles later I saw another huge sign…..this one said…….”Welcome To Georgia…The Peach State.” Duh…I knew where I was!

If you ever travel from state to state once you arrive to the next state line you are always welcome by one of the signs. However….I was nowhere near another state. Especially “North Carolina,” “Virginia” or “Maryland” the first signs I saw. I then saw that two lanes were closed, and there was a HUGE film crew, camera’s and people everywhere……they were shooting a movie!! How cool!! Come to find out it was a new Jennifer Anniston movie shooting, “Wonderlust” and she was in town about 15 minutes from where I was at a little cafĂ© shooting a few scenes. Recently, our current Governor passed a law letting movie companies to have a huge tax break if they came and shoot movies here. Well we have been seeing a lot of this lately and it’s kind of cool, to pass one as they were filming…..maybe you’ll see my big-ole car in the scene shot on that road!

Kind of neat to watch a movie and know exactly where there are!

Happy Halloween!!!

The boys where so excited for Halloween! My mom had taken Christian and Jadon out a few weeks before to Party City and them pick out there own costume. Christian decided on a Knight from The Chronicles of Narnia movie, I think mostly so he could carry a sword. Since Jadon loves Toy Story 3, it was only fitting he choose Buzz Lightyear! I decided that since Colin loves Elmo, and we had a costume handed down to us from my sister it would work just fine!

A couple of weeks prior to Halloween I pick up a few metal buckets from Home Depot and sprayed painted them neon green. Then Christian, Colin and Jadon got to decorate there own Trick or Treat buckets. They turned out great and the boys enjoyed having something of their own.

On Halloween night we headed over to my parents house for dinner, and then the kids got all dressed up and ready to go. For the most part they did great, there was the occasional "it's my turn to ring the doorbell" but overall we had a great time.

From a Knight, Elmo, Buzz Lightyear and a Bumble Bee Happy Halloween!!!

The other night we had a movie night...just me and the boys! I hadn't seen Toy Story 3 yet, so we pulled out the pillows, blankets and got a comfy seat on the floor. We had such a fun time, and the movie was great! I love spending time with my 2 boys!!

Happy Birthday Jennifer!

Happy Birthday to the best friend anyone could ever had. Jennifer and I met way back in high school, ninth grade if I'm correct in English class. I was wearing, apparently a cheap pair of sandals and they broke. From then we have been best friends....actually more like sisters. High school was a blast, and I have so many memory's of our many night's out. She was there when I met Michael, and I was honored to have her in my wedding. She was a shoulder to cry or lean on when I lost my brother. When I gave birth to Christian and Colin. I was honored to be in her wedding and happy I was able to be part of her and Nathan's special day. Birthday, Holidays, good days and bad not matter what I know the she will be there for me. I am so happy to have such a great friend who accepts me for who I am, even though sometimes I think she would like to smack me upside the head, but that's what friends are for.

Happy Birthday....to one of the very best friends anyone could ever ask for! I love you and wish you many more great birthday's!!

It's A Jungle Out There.....

A few weeks ago Christian had his first little play of the year. All the first graders preformed “It’s a Jungle out there!” Christian’s class where all monkey’s such fitting for him since sometimes he thinks he’s a monkey jumping from furniture to furniture! It was so cute! He had been singing songs weeks before so I knew a little of what was going to be going on. Mom and Dad made the show, and we recorded it for Michael to see. It was such a cute performance, with a cute little lesson about life! I love being able to see him up there singing and having fun!!

Happy Birthday Adelyn!!!

Happy First Birthday Adelyn!! A couple of weeks ago Adelyn turned 1!! We were all very excited to celebrate a little girls birthday, since up until now the past 13 years have been all about boys! Everything was PINK, and princess!! At one point it looked like someone poured a bottle of Pepto Bismol all over the kitchen. I must say I enjoyed buying a gift for a little girl, pink, ruffles, and baby dolls….such a change! I LOVE my boys, but it’s nice to see something other than cars, trucks and trains! Happy First Birthday Adelyn!!!

Busy...Busy...Busy...

Wow, things have been really crazy! I never thought it would be so exhausting with Michael out of town working! But guess what…I’m exhausted!! I guess you really don’t know how much the other person helps out and does until they are not around to help you. Not that I never appreciated him to begin with, but I guess it’s the little things he did that I’m now doing. Like taking the trash out….forgotten about 3 times, and a couple of times running to the end of the street in my pajamas while the truck is driving down the road. I must say I don’t think I would have made it to this point without my parents help. They have keep the kids, picked them up from daycare while I worked. Keep one or the other while we hang with friends, and the occasional overnight guests! Thanks mom and dad, I love you!

Let’s see…..between work and school we have been hanging with friends, bowling, football games, spending time with family, celebrating birthdays and a few things in between. Michael has been home two weekends since he’s been gone and we have enjoyed the time together. He will be in training for about three weeks, but at least he’ll be close to home and not another state. We are still alive….just really busy!!

Hilton Head...Part 1

A few months ago my mom and dad booked a week long trip to Hilton Head South Carolina for their vacation, and ask Leigh and I if we wanted to come for a few days. They rented a condo with room for everyone so we took them up on their offer. So last Saturday we packed up and headed south! I love Hilton Head, I can remember going there growing up for family vacations. Michael and I went there on our Honeymoon and again the year after. It’s so relaxing and quiet the opposite from Panama City Beach! The weather was supposed to be great so we were looking forward to relaxing. Since Michael had left to go out of town the week prior it was going to be nice to get away and not think about him being gone. Then at the last minute he decided to drive down and spend a few days with us. I didn’t tell the boys so when he got there, they were both surprised. We spent the next couple of days chilling at the beach, the pool and eating way too much! He left early Tuesday morning to head back to North Carolina, and we had a couple more days to play!

Happy Birthday Colin!!!!

Happy 2nd Birthday Colin!! I can’t believe you are already 2, it seems like just yesterday when you where just born. You are the light of mommy and daddy’s heart and we love you so much. You have the funniest personality, and are a joy to be around. You adore your older brother, as he adores you!! You are loving being able to wrestle, making forts, making lions sounds, and playing outside; there are times you come in kicking and screaming because it’s time to come inside. You play well with Christian, (for the most part!) and have a contagious laugh. Your favorite word is “no” and say it about a thousand times a day. Whatever Christian is doing, you are right behind him doing the same thing as if you where 6. You are an amazing little boy and we love you so much!

Happy Birthday!!!

Love,
Mommy and Daddy

Stomach bug...please go!

Apparently the stomach bug has made it's way through the Milam family. It all started last Sunday night, when I heard Colin in his room a little after midnight only to go check on him to find he was covered in throw up, and had been laying in it. Thursday came and Michael was in bed all day with it, only to start feeling as close to 100% right before he left. This morning at around 5:45 I hear Christian crying and running into our bathroom only to nearly miss the toilet. He has been complaining of a tummy ache all day. I (knock on wood) have yet to be the only person in the family that has been able to escape the terrible bug. I'm hoping I do, we have a very exciting weekend planned and I don't want to be sick!

North Carolina or Bust....

We have been really busy lately and I have slacked on my blogging. About two weeks ago Michael received a call to go and temp a store in North Carolina, so we have been preparing for him to leave this morning. Other than work, we have been spending a lot of family time. We would love Michael to have a store of his own, and in order to get there you have to do a little traveling. The kids and I already have a couple of trips planned to go and visit, and are going to be staying busy in the mean time to help the time pass quickly! I will be trying hard to keep up with the blog so Michael can keep up with it too, but I'm gonna be honest...it might get pushed to the side since I'll be kicking it by myself! We are very excited about the opportunity we have been given and are excited to see what doors God opens for us.

Cake Anyone???

Last Sunday mom and I took a cake class. It was a class about Fondant, the icing you see on cakes that look like sheets of icing. Any cake you see with it most of the times are very beautiful, so we thought we would give it a go. We now know why those cakes are so expensive, they are hard work. The class was from 1-4, and we easily could have gone a few more hours to tweak our cakes. Plus it's very hard work, my arms felt like jello afterwards. You knead the icing over and over and it uses a lot of upper body. We had a great time, and really enjoyed the class. There's another one in a couple of months we might hit, so stay tuned! Enjoy our works of art.

First Day of School

Monday was the big day....Christian started 1st grade!! I can’t believe how fast the summer has gone by, but now it’s time to get down to business. We had a great year last year, and I’m hoping that this year will be just as good. Since the county we live in is known for our schools, I’m a little worried about the load for him. I grew up in the same school system and what he will be learning this year I didn’t learn until almost 3rd grade. I know he’ll do great, I guess it’s just momma fears! Here’s to a great year

Disney World...Day 4

Today we spent the whole day, 11 hours to be exact at the Magic Kingdom. It was so much fun. I think by far this is my favorite park, there is so much to see and do it’s easy to spend the whole day there. We headed out early and caught the monorail over to the park. We started off by riding Space Mountain, since it was close for repairs last year and it’s a popular ride we wanted to hit it early. Christian and I got in line and walked our way through space and boarded our space ship. Christian did great on it, considering it was in the complete dark and a fast ride.

We hit all the major rides, some twice and was able to catch the parade. It was hot so we took many trips inside the gift shops to cool down. We went and toured Mickey’s house and waited about 45 minutes in line to meet him and Minnie Mouse. The wait seemed long, with the heat and dealing with 2 very sleepy kids we finally made it. We walked into a little room and where greeting by both Mickey and Minnie. Colin loves Mickey Mouse, but that’s his stuffed Mickey. This Mickey was real, it moved and touched him! He made sure he never took his eye off of him the whole time.

I will say for anyone that is thinking about visiting the magic kingdom, or any park for that fact, use the fast pass system. It was a lot more crowded this year, and being able to use a “fast pass” on most popular rides is a blessing. You swipe your ticket, and you get another ticket to return between two times. Then you get to skip the lines and walk right onto the ride! It’s great!

We left and seemed like we barely made it back to the hotel! Needless to say both boys fell asleep early and stayed asleep the whole night.
