Happy Birthday Adelyn!!

Last Thursday was Adelyn's 2nd birthday, so this past Saturday we celebrated it. Leigh and I took the kids to Monkey Joe's to jump!! I took a few pictures there but none really turned out that great. They were moving too fast and the lighting in the building was awful. I did go down a slide with Adelyn because she was scared to go up any. We FLEW done the slide, and I ended up getting wounded!

Afterwards we headed back to our parents house for the party. She had a "soda-shop" like themed party and it was super cute!! My mom made cupcakes in ice cream cones and piled tons of icing on each one. SUGAR OVERLOAD!!!

My dad whipped up some vanilla and chocolate malt milk shakes!

The Birthday girl and her balloons!!

For the food she had a great idea of having everyone make their own personal pizza! We all rolled our out, and topped it with what ever we wanted. The kids thought it was pretty cool, and they were able to watch it cook.

Christian made a smiley face made out of pepperonis!

Colin dumped all his topping in one place, so I helped him spread them out a little!

How cute is this! They were all watching and waiting for their very own pizza to cook!

Happy 2nd Birthday Adelyn!!!

My new planner!!!

Yesterday afternoon I got home and was surprised to see a package from Federal Express at my front door. I could hardly contain myself as I wanted to run in and rip that sucker open. I waited though, got everything inside and Christian started on his homework. It sat on the counter for a while as I started dinner, and I could just see it out of the corner of my eye just laying there.

I was so happy when I finally opened it! It was exactly what I wanted and it looks fantastic!! After the boys went to sleep I sat down and really took a look at everything it had. They even snuck a few little surprises in there for me! I absolutely love it!!! I highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a great planner, oh and the company was great to deal with.

It's HOT!!!

Weather in the south is pretty unpredictable. Literally one day it’s 80 degrees outside and two days later the high is 50, it’s just how it is. Now that we are in mid-October we should be enjoying the cool days of fall, but it’s the south and things don’t work like that. This past weekend the weather was GORGEOUS!! Mid 80’s Saturday thru yesterday, usually I love this kind of weather. However this weekend was a little different. We were busy all day Saturday so when we finally got home around 8 that evening I opened the front door only to have a burst of hot air hit me. The house was 78 degrees and rising! The kids’ were already asleep so I went around trying out every vent in the house to figure out why it wasn’t cooling. I could hear the air conditioner running outside, and could feel the air coming from every vent, it just wasn’t cool air. I turned the air off for about 10 minutes and restarted it thinking that that would fix it. Once I turned it back on the first 2-3 min all the air was cool but quickly turned kind of warm.

We managed through the night with the fans, and I prayed that come morning it would be working. Sunday we woke up, the house was somewhat cool but still never dropped down to what I had the thermostat to. I changed the air filter, which I was proud of myself for, and we left for church again hoping that the temp would stay down. Once we got home the house was HOT!! The thermostat was reading 83 inside! I now knew something was wrong with it so I just decided to turn it off completely. No sense running something and paying for it, if it wasn’t going to run properly. I opened the windows, turned on all the fans and hoped that there would be a breeze through the house. After about an hour I knew the kids were hot when they came into the living room with nothing but underwear on. I called my dad and he gave me the number to the ac guy and we would just have to deal with it until Monday.

So yesterday I called the AC guy to come out and take a look. He kind of laughed because he normally doesn’t receive calls this time of year for AC problems, mainly heat. This is funny because by tomorrow the high will be 50 and I will not need the air, I will need heat. That’s how the weather works in the south! Thankfully it was just a small piece that was broken on the unit itself outside, and they were able to replace it in about 15 minutes, and it wasn’t too expensive! Last night was much cooler….and I am so thankful our air is fixed and running great. Even if it’s only for 2 days, and then we are turning on the heat!

Catch-up

Wow it’s Thursday…where did the week go. We had a holiday on Monday, and I was off on Tuesday, so my week really started yesterday. I love this kind of week! We had a fabulous weekend. Michael was not traveling so we had a whole lot of family time….which is always the best. Lazy days, eating, playing, and tons of giggles! It just makes my heart happy just thinking about it! Life has been quite stressful lately and it was nice to put all those things on the back burner in our heads and enjoy the simple things in life.

Saturday the weather was great! So we ventured out to the park for a little bike riding. Colin amazed us with how well he is riding his tricycle. It was a Christmas gift last year, and now he’s able to put enough strength in his legs to get it moving. Christian does awesome, and I am seeing a new, bigger, bike in his near future. Maybe soon without the training wheels. We really need to get out more and let the kids ride, it was a nice evening.

Georgia won! So the night ended on a great note. Believe it or not Christmas is right around the corner. I have mentally started preparing for it. I might have already started a running list of things for the boys. Sunday we ventured out to the toy store to see what new things are out there. I had a few things in mind and made it a point it out to both of them. I am happy to say it made it to the list! Christian walked around chip board in hand writing frantically all the wonderful things he found. How sweet it is that a few items Colin seemed to like made it on his list as well. Christian gave him his own section on the paper….ahh brotherly love! It’s a wonderful thing.

We had some rain, which gave us even more or a reason to be lazy, relax and just enjoy being together as a family!

Parent-Teacher Conference

Monday and Tuesday of this week was early release for Christian at school, which also mean Parent-Teacher conferences. I am a very involved parent, so this is not my first conversation with the teacher this year. I love having the ability to email her and she responds very quickly. The county we live in moves at a super fast paced and my fear is that Christian will get behind. I try and stay on top of everything going on, and do my part to makes sure he stays on track. Also I love having his grades email to me as well. He doesn’t always bring home all his graded papers and all I have to go by is how he said he is doing. The only thing that worries me, and has since pre-k was the social part of it. Christian is his momma and is a total social butterfly. Christian is also very smart, and I’m not just saying that because he is my kid, he really is. Every teacher, pre-k, kindergarten, first and now second, everyone always comments on how smart he is. I hear constantly “Christian’s brain is wired and works like no other student.” I totally believe it!! Christian has the ability to completely think outside the box about everything. For example, she said the other day on the way back from art class where they had been learning about sunflowers. In the hallway the teacher asked the students to line up against the wall and act like sunflowers. Every student stood up tall and proud to be a sunflower, except for Christian. He was bent half way over with his arms dangling down. The teacher asked “what are you doing?” and he replied “I’m a dead sunflower, I am bent over and wilted.” She just laughed. She never asked them to be alive sunflowers, so he would just be different and be a dead one.

Tuesday was my conference and I walked in and sat down. His teacher had a folder with his name on it and just smiled and said “Christian, Christian, Christian….” I laughed and replied “what, he’s one in a million?” Which she replied “Oh yes!” She started by saying how sweet, compassionate and loving he was, and she could see he has such a big heart! (That makes me proud!) She laughed because she is learning something about him every day. She was overall happy about his grades, he has 2 A’s and 4 (high) B’s! Which she followed up by, “these are his grades and he really doesn’t try hard. If I could get him to put some effort into his work he would have straight A’s.” Which I totally agree. I see it while he is doing his homework. He does it so fast because he just wants it done. There have been times where I make him re-do his homework because he goes to fast. It’s something we are working on daily with him, and she sees it so hopefully together we can nip it in the butt and get him to take his time.

He is on a higher level for reading than what is required, which is great. He LOVES reading, and he is getting excited about reading books that are a little bit more challenging to him. So we have some things to work on, and over all I am really happy how the year is going. He has a great teacher, and that means a world of a difference. As always working on spelling. There are weeks he does great and then there are weeks not so much. Hopefully we can spend a little more time on these things and we will all have a successful remainder of the year!

I give so much credit to all the teachers, because I know there jobs at times is not easy, and they by far do not get enough credit for it. Thank you to all you teachers!!

Organization!!

I can honestly say when I was growing up being organized was not my strong suit. As I have gotten older, and my life has changed, wife, mommy, work full time, it can get a little crazy. I am learning that being organized has become very important and somewhat addicting. I love the blogging world, and I have come across some cool “organization blogs” which only add to me wanting to become super hard core about it. I mean come on, when you look at someone else’s stuff and everything is nice, neat and has a home it makes you a little jealous. Not to mention the whole Pinterest thing, geeze! I get so many things running thru my mind all at the same time…over load! We have our “daily” routines, which I love! Being organized to me goes along with it.

In my attempt to become more organized I would like to start with this bad boy!

By erincondren.com....Please go check it out...she has cool stuff!! A co-worker received one for Christmas last year and I immediately fell in love with it. The months past and I kind of forgot about it, but a couple of months ago I stumbled across it again. After debating back and forth about it I decided to bite the bullet and order my very own. So I am patiently awaiting the arrival of my very own life planner!! I am so excited and can’t wait to show it off and start using it!!

Here are a couple of blogs that I have found that I am loving, so I thought I would share to you! If you have any that you have found, tips advice please leave a comment and let me know. I will be adding these blogs to my “Organization List” and would love to have a lot to choose from!
