The Thursday before Thanksgiving Christian’s school hosted the annual thanksgiving feast during lunch. I remember when I was in elementary school my mom coming and eating lunch with me, and I look forward to it each year with Christian. He looks forward to it as well. Normally I am working and take an little longer lunch and head over, but this year the exterminators were coming to do our yearly treatment at the house so I just took the day off! So Colin was able to join in on the fun! He loves Christian’s school. He points it out every time we pass and the whole morning he kept asking if it was time to go! Lunch was good, as good as school cafeteria food can get. Christian loved having us there, and even showed Colin off!!
The only thing about having fun things like this planned at school was he always wants to get checked out afterwards and go home! I don’t blame him, I always did and never was. I normally do, however I had a couple more errands to run and it’s easier and quieter with only 1 child. Plus he was going to recess and watching a movie the rest of the day. I made a deal with him and picked him up in car pool that afternoon, so it was all good!

Parent-Teacher Conference
Monday and Tuesday of this week was early release for Christian at school, which also mean Parent-Teacher conferences. I am a very involved parent, so this is not my first conversation with the teacher this year. I love having the ability to email her and she responds very quickly. The county we live in moves at a super fast paced and my fear is that Christian will get behind. I try and stay on top of everything going on, and do my part to makes sure he stays on track. Also I love having his grades email to me as well. He doesn’t always bring home all his graded papers and all I have to go by is how he said he is doing. The only thing that worries me, and has since pre-k was the social part of it. Christian is his momma and is a total social butterfly. Christian is also very smart, and I’m not just saying that because he is my kid, he really is. Every teacher, pre-k, kindergarten, first and now second, everyone always comments on how smart he is. I hear constantly “Christian’s brain is wired and works like no other student.” I totally believe it!! Christian has the ability to completely think outside the box about everything. For example, she said the other day on the way back from art class where they had been learning about sunflowers. In the hallway the teacher asked the students to line up against the wall and act like sunflowers. Every student stood up tall and proud to be a sunflower, except for Christian. He was bent half way over with his arms dangling down. The teacher asked “what are you doing?” and he replied “I’m a dead sunflower, I am bent over and wilted.” She just laughed. She never asked them to be alive sunflowers, so he would just be different and be a dead one.
Tuesday was my conference and I walked in and sat down. His teacher had a folder with his name on it and just smiled and said “Christian, Christian, Christian….” I laughed and replied “what, he’s one in a million?” Which she replied “Oh yes!” She started by saying how sweet, compassionate and loving he was, and she could see he has such a big heart! (That makes me proud!) She laughed because she is learning something about him every day. She was overall happy about his grades, he has 2 A’s and 4 (high) B’s! Which she followed up by, “these are his grades and he really doesn’t try hard. If I could get him to put some effort into his work he would have straight A’s.” Which I totally agree. I see it while he is doing his homework. He does it so fast because he just wants it done. There have been times where I make him re-do his homework because he goes to fast. It’s something we are working on daily with him, and she sees it so hopefully together we can nip it in the butt and get him to take his time.
He is on a higher level for reading than what is required, which is great. He LOVES reading, and he is getting excited about reading books that are a little bit more challenging to him. So we have some things to work on, and over all I am really happy how the year is going. He has a great teacher, and that means a world of a difference. As always working on spelling. There are weeks he does great and then there are weeks not so much. Hopefully we can spend a little more time on these things and we will all have a successful remainder of the year!
I give so much credit to all the teachers, because I know there jobs at times is not easy, and they by far do not get enough credit for it. Thank you to all you teachers!!

Mommy and Christian Weekend!!
My parents were out of town this past weekend, to Kentucky for a family reunion, and decided to take Colin and Adelyn along for the ride. Which meant that Christian and I would be able to spend the whole weekend just the two of us! I was excited to spend quality time with him, since he shares the attention with Colin. I dropped Christian off at school Friday morning and then headed to my parents to drop of Colin before heading to work. I knew he would be fine with my parents, but it’s still hard leaving him. I gave him a big hug and kiss, and preceded to leave. I wanted one more so I asked Colin to give me another hug and kiss, in which he responded to “I already did mommy!” Ugh, it broke my heart. I kept it together and shed just a couple of tears on the way to work.
The only agreement I had with my parents were they would take Colin and Christian and I would sleep at their house to watch Ebony, the dog. No biggie, she is a great dog and kind of lazy. However Friday night she got up 5 times to go out to the bathroom. It was a long night, and I called Saturday morning and told my dad I was ready to switch and wanted Colin back.
We went back home for a while Saturday morning to clean, do laundry and just catch up on things that get neglected during the week.
I decided to take Christian to a movie, so we headed out for a early afternoon movie of “Spy Kids 4 in 4D!” It was a cute movie, and he enjoyed it. The theater was packed out!
Afterwards we went and ate lunch, then hit the Lego store. He loves Lego’s, and is always wanted something new but never wants to spend his money always mommy and daddy’s money. After checking out all the new stuff we headed home with a stop at Chick-fil-A for an ice-cream.
Saturday night we were back at my parents house and we broke out a game. Christian had gotten a few games for Christmas but we have yet to play them all. So we decided on Monopoly Jr. I explained the game, and basically how to win, but he was more worried about how much money he had instead of how many ticket booths he had. At one point he told me, “ha you’re out of money!” which I was down to $1.00!! However I had bought every property I landed on and it was only a matter of time before he landed on them and had to pay. Overall it was a great night and I so enjoyed spending all that time just the two of us.
Sunday we went to church, went home for lunch and a nap. The nap was awesome!! I don’t get to take naps like that with boy of them there, it gets to loud and I’m worried what they will eventually get into. We picked up dinner on the way back to my parents and ended up making cupcakes that night for when everyone came back in town. Before we knew it, Monday rolled around and it was time to start the week.
I am SO happy for the weekend we had together just us! I love both of my boys, but think it is so important to let them each have alone, quality time alone with us.

First Day of School
Summer is officially over, and I am a little sad. It seemed like we just finished up last year and we are headed back again. We had a great summer, and are eager to see what the 2ND grade has to offer.
This past Thursday was open house and we went to meet Christian's new teacher Mrs. Bator. She seemed very nice, and looked like he would be doing a lot of fun things this year. We are no longer on the "U, S, E, and N" grading system and from here on out things will be fully graded. I'm sure we (he) won't have any problems.
Here is a picture from this morning, ready for a new year!
You had a GREAT first day, you even said you had fun! Which I was so happy to hear. Last night you were a little worried about going, but all your worries are no more.
I can't believe how big you look in this picture!

Dr Check-Up!
Tuesday was Christian’s 7-year check up!
Here are his stats:
Weight: 51 lbs (50%- 75%)
Height: 49 ¼ (50% - 75%)
BMI: 14.7 (25%-50%)
I was very surprised at the percentile for his height, to me he’s tall for his age and with Michael being so tall I just figured it would be higher. No biggie, he has plenty of time to grow! He did great answering the nurse and doctors’ questions. He past his hearing test with flying colors, which I responded to “hey, you can hear!” I guess he has that selective hearing going on. He didn’t do to great with his vision test, so she let him try again and didn’t do to good the second time around. The test consisted of him standing at one end of the hall way, cover one eye and read the letters off the chart on the other end of the hall. Needless to say we will be visiting the eye doctor next week to have a more extensive test to check his eyes out. I’m not too worried about it, if he needs glasses then that’s what we will do. School starts next week and I don’t want him struggling to see.
He didn’t receive any shots, which he was so happy about. I am so glad that we switched doctors last year, he loves his new doctor. She is great and takes time to go over anything we have questions or concerns about. At our last doctors' I always felt rushed. She remembered us from our last visit about the spot on his face and was curious about what the dermatologist said. It really makes our visit somewhat enjoyable. We left and he gave the doctor a big huge…makes a momma proud!
He looks so cute in his gown!!

Christian
A few months ago I noticed a spot on Christian’s face. It was white, and very faint. I remember the first couple of times I saw it would be in the morning and I thought he just didn’t wipe his face good after breakfast. Then one weekend Michael noticed it. We didn’t really know what it was, I just said we should keep an eye on it and make sure it didn’t change. Now that summer is here, he is outside everyday either playing and/or swimming. He has started to tan over his whole body but this one spot on his face doesn’t seem to want to tan. I figured it was time to take him to the doctor and see what they said. I thought about taking him to the dermatologist but then realized if it’s nothing the pediatrician will know what to do, and if all else fails they will send us to one. So about 2 weeks ago I took him to the doctor. I saw the PA in the office, and she gave me a list of about 2-3 things she thought it could be but wasn’t sure. She said Dermatology was hard to diagnose and she thought we should go see one. At that time his doctor came in and thought it could just be a fugal, (I know nice right?) thing, and prescribed a cream for it. She said if it was it would help, it not it wouldn’t hurt but to use it until we could get in to see the dermatologist. I called them that afternoon (Friday) and they were able to get him in to be seen on Monday. I looked up the things the doctor said it might be, and honestly none of them seem horrible, maybe just weird looking.
That Monday we headed to the doctor to see what she thought he had. She took one look and knew what it was. She asked a few general questions and then took us into another room where there were no windows. She turned the lights off and used a black light over his body. She said even though we didn’t see any other spots with our eyes the light would show them. He had the one spot on his face right next to his mouth, and a very small one behind his left ear. She said she wanted to scrape it and look at it under the microscope. Christian did great, she never let him see the actual blade she used, just a slide for the microscope. It only took about a minute and then she went to look at it. She came back and said there wasn’t anything abnormal about it, but he did have a condition called Vitiligo. An autoimmune disease that eats the pigment in his skin. She asked if anyone had a thyroid problem, which I do as well as a few other people in my family. She said that sometimes there is a link between the two and she wanted to have him tested. She gave us a new steroid cream to use for two weeks, and the follow up with an antibiotic that would hopefully stimulate the pigment to re-grow. We have just completed the two week steroid and have now started to cream to help re-grow the pigment. I notice last week a small spot on his right side, and have started the cream there as well. There is a chance that it will spread, and a chance that the cream doesn’t work. Thank-fully we are very faired skinned, (as I told the doctor, I guess it’s a good thing to be pasty!!) and normally you would not see the spots. However since it is summer time, and he is outside he will darken, but those spots will not ever tan. We just have to be super cautious with the sun block on those areas and apply really good since they have no pigment they are more easier to burn. He doesn’t even notice the spots are there unless we are starring at them. They don’t itch, or irritate him so that’s good. We just pray that the new cream will work, and that the spots won’t spread to other parts of his body. We go back to the dermatologist next month for a follow up, and we are hoping for a good report!

Happr Birthday Christian!!!
Happy Birthday to our first born, I can’t believe today you are 7!! Time really flies by so fast. I can remember the day your daddy and I found out we were pregnant with you!! My whole life I have always wanted to be a mommy and we are so thankful that God allowed us to be your parents. You have been an absolute joy in our lives, and we love you more than anything. You are super smart, and so inquisitive. You ask a lot of questions, and we love seeing your mind just work. You are very caring, compassionate and have a huge heart. You just finished the first grade and are so excited about going to 2nd. You still love firemen and still have your mind set on becoming one when you grow up. You like reading, playing outside, playing your DS, and playing with your Legos. You are a great big brother and Colin adores you and looks up to you so much. We are excited to see what year 7 holds for you and us!

Sports Camp
The church we have been attending lately had a sports camp last week. It's kind of their way of vacation bible school, so I knew I wanted Christian to attend. It was Monday thru Thursday from 6-8:30. I didn't pre-register him, so we left a little earlier on Monday so we would have time. I guess I kind of scared him by telling him that over 500 kids had already pre-registered. When we got in line, he saw a couple of boys from school and all the other kids. Then he started to panic! He was crying and saying he didn't want to stay. I couldn't leave him crying. So we left. I had a talk with him in the car and asked what was wrong. He told me he was shy and didn't want to meet all those people! He is not shy, and I told him he didn't need to meet every single person there. Just find a friend and hang out with him and if he met any new people it would be a plus! He said he would try again on Tuesday.
So Tuesday we tried it again. I filled out the registration form and told him to pick 2 things he wanted to participate in. Since it's a sports camp they had all different sports listed and you would be teamed up and play that particular sport. Obliviously they have a few other things listed just in case some kids were not into sports. We have never signed him up for any sports. One- he hasn't shown any interest in any one particular sport and two-if he is going to play a sport we want him to know the jist of it before hand. It's not an issues we push. Any-who, I gave him the list and told him to pick any 2 he wanted. I didn't care, if it was something he has never tried just do it. It's all just fun! He wanted large group games, which I think everyone participated in. Then he chose his two "sports"......and what did MY child pick???? Art and Science!!! I just laughed!! I didn't question it, and just said ok...let's go have fun! He found a boy from school and teamed up with him. I kissed him bye and I would pick him up later! The first day I picked him up-sweating, beat red, and all wound up!! He said "mom-I had a blast, and can't wait to come back tomorrow!" I knew he would love it!! He told me all about the experiments he preformed, and even wore goggles!! Too funny!

Thursday night was the big send-off! They didn't have a family night, but instead brought in a professional motorcyclist! Christian's word's were "he was awesome!" He had a huge ramp and did trips. Jumped over a bus, and everything! We waited in line for a picture and autograph and to check out his bike!
I'm so glad he had so much fun! I remember loving going to our churches vacation bible school, and I'm glad he is experiencing the same thing!

Goodbye 1st grade....Hello 2nd!!
I can’t believe that Christian is officially a 2ND grader! We had a few additional challenges this year as opposed to the past couple of years but in all it was a great year! Christian is super smart, so I never worried whether or not he would be behind since he is one of the younger ones in his class. He loves school and has received high grades throughout the whole year. He loves reading and math. Writing is not his strong point but that’s alright, we will be working on that a little this summer. He has such an outgoing personality and has made so many new friends. He has grown up so much during this school year, and we are excited to see what second grade has to offer. The only bad thing that has been repeated over and over this year would have to be the fact he LOVES to talk! Surprise…surprise….he is MY child! Yes some of the talking comes from me, but also his age. I’m hoping not to receive as many notes next year as we did this year! He is a great kid, and so smart!! We are so proud of everything he has accomplished this year!! We are looking forward to the second grade but for now we are excited to enjoy the summer!!

Christian's Mother's Day Letter
I love when the boys make things for me, and each year for Mother’s day is no different. Christian is in school and they always do something cute and creative for me. I love to see how he sees things, and his take on me. This year his teacher typed up a letter and he had to fill in the blanks to best describe me. I find it hilarious how he sees me, and what he remembers. He can remember something I did one or two times but can never remember something I do every day or tell him every day.
I am 10 feet tall, and weighs 90.5 pounds (Ha!) I have brown and black hair and blue eyes. I like to eat spaghetti and Chicken (something) Everyday I go to work and after dinner I sit on the couch. (I find this so funny) My favorite show is E! News. My favorite thing to do is play his DS. He loves me because I am the greatest mom in the world!
Sometimes I wish I was taller, and of course skinner, or even better sit on the couch after dinner everyday. I do watch E! News, and I have on occasion played his DS! Who can blame him, he has some fun games, plus he looses it often!
I love the picture he drew, me under a rainbow!
I love these types of things he makes, and will cherish them forever.
I love him so much!

Look who lost his first tooth!!!
Christian has had a tooth that has been loose for quite a while now, but nowhere near enough to either pull it or for it to fall out. The other day when I picked him up he was so excited because he had been messing with it all day with his tongue and it was super loose! I told him not to bother with it anymore and when it was ready to come out it would. Ha, easier said than done especially when your 6! I told him to be careful while eating so he wouldn’t swallow it. He panicked for a minute and asked why, assuming if he did swallow it something bad would happen. I said if he didn’t have it, he couldn’t get money for it! He was so cautious eating dinner, but afterwards I took a quick look myself. I barely touched it and it fell right into my hands! He didn’t even know it was missing! He was super excited, and could wait to call Michael and tell him what had happened!

It's A Jungle Out There.....
A few weeks ago Christian had his first little play of the year. All the first graders preformed “It’s a Jungle out there!” Christian’s class where all monkey’s such fitting for him since sometimes he thinks he’s a monkey jumping from furniture to furniture! It was so cute! He had been singing songs weeks before so I knew a little of what was going to be going on. Mom and Dad made the show, and we recorded it for Michael to see. It was such a cute performance, with a cute little lesson about life! I love being able to see him up there singing and having fun!!

First Day of School
Monday was the big day....Christian started 1st grade!! I can’t believe how fast the summer has gone by, but now it’s time to get down to business. We had a great year last year, and I’m hoping that this year will be just as good. Since the county we live in is known for our schools, I’m a little worried about the load for him. I grew up in the same school system and what he will be learning this year I didn’t learn until almost 3rd grade. I know he’ll do great, I guess it’s just momma fears! Here’s to a great year
Of course if Christian was having his picture taking, Colin had too as well!!!

Christian's New Room!!!
Christian loves fire trucks, police cars and ambulance’s. For 3 years in a row you where either a fire fighter or police officer for Halloween. Every time we pass one on the road you make it a point to tell us. We have talked about re-doing your room to reflect your love for these, but it seems to always get pushed back, not anymore. While we were away enjoying our trip to Disney World, Grandmother and Buddy; (my parents) were busy re-doing your room for your birthday! The past 2 weeks I have been talking with my mom and getting ideas all together. You will not even recognize your room!
We hope you like it!
Happy Birthday from Grandmother and Buddy!!

Happy Birthday Christian!!!
Happy Birthday Christian!
I cannot believe that 6 years has already gone by. It literally seems like yesterday you where a little baby in my arms and now you are getting ready to start the first grade!! You are our first born, and the love of our lives. I cannot imagine life without you in it. How awesome is it that not only did you spend your 5th birthday at Disney World, but you are spending your 6th one there as well.
You are funny, smart and have my personality. You love to talk, and have questions for anything and everything. You still love to hug me and kiss me and cuddle on the couch at night. You have a HUGE heart and are so sweet and loveable! You are a great big brother to Colin, whom looks up to you so much! You love swimming and playing outside whenever possible. You love fire trucks, police cars, and ambulances! In fact you will have a big birthday surprise when you get home!
You make me and daddy so proud! We love you and hope you have an awesome birthday!
Love, Mommy!

The Yucks!
The sick bug has made its way through our family this week. It started with Christian on Friday and by Monday Colin had gotten it. He was out for a couple of days, and by Wednesday night Michael was in bed running a fever. I have been playing the nurse role all week taking care of everyone. I am the only one, knock on wood, who has not been hit by the so called “bug.” I’m glad it has happened all in the same week as opposed to it being carried over the course of three weeks or so.
We are looking forward to the weekend, Christian is spending the night with my parents along with Jadon and will be going to see Toy Story 3! It will be the 3 of us tonight and I am hoping to get a jump start on my cleaning. It’s funny how behind you get when you are taking care of your sick family.

Atlanta Braves
Tuesday night Michael, Christian and I headed down to an Atlanta Braves game. This was Christian first time ever at a game, and Michael and I first game in a long time. We got the tickets through Michael’s work, so after dropping off Colin at my sister’s we headed to Atlanta. Christian had falling asleep in the car and we stopped at the ATM before hitting the highway, while we were there Christian woke up and asked where his shoes were? After looking around, he had walked out of the house with NO SHOES! Don’t ask me how that happened; I guess he was so excited he failed to make sure his flip flops were on. So a quick stop at Wal-Mart to pick up another pair fixed the problem.
We arrived a little after 7 and made our way to the 755 club Delta Sky Lounge. It’s one level of the stadium that is glass enclosed where you can sit and watch the game and order food. It was very nice, but very crowded since the game started off with a rain delay. We eventually made our way to our seats, where we sat for two hours under an umbrella waiting for the game to start. We had AWESOME seats; we were so close and close to home plate. We then decided that sense the rain didn’t seem to be letting up anytime soon, we would walk around the stadium and let Christian enjoy somewhat of this experience. He even got a Tomahawk! Which he seems to call a hamatawk! We left, went and got an ice cream and picked up Colin before heading home. Only to turn the TV on and the game had just started, they were in the first inning. Oh well, Christian still had a great time, and we will be catching another game this summer!

Summer Time
Summer time=busy time!! It seems like we are always on the move. With family time and work we are going 90 miles a minute. June is here, and we are starting to prepare for our trip to Disney in a few weeks, and Christian can’t wait.
Michael return from Alabama early…he came home Saturday night and surprised the kids! They were so excited!
Christian finished the last part of his dental work, and did awesome. It was a little rougher than last time, but he still did great. All the work is complete and we found out he has a couple extra baby teeth. The dentist said some kids are just born with extra teeth, so he will eventually have them removed. They are not an issue right now, but in a few months we will have them pulled.
Colin, I think has grown about 2 inches it seems over the past couple of weeks. He is now tall enough to open the doors. We have been able to close the doors to the rooms we want him to stay out of, but not anymore. We had to go out and invest in some doors knob covers to keep him out.
Both of the boys are loving spending time outside, and playing in the pool. It’s been really hot here the past few days, so outside time is either early in the morning or after the sun starts going down.

I am so happy when we have a holiday during the week, it makes the week go by so fast. Only a few more days before Michael comes home and we are all excited. It has gone by fast, but we are ready to see him. Since school is out Christian is at daycare full time, and is loving it. I really love the place we use, they are small, have only 2 locations and owned by a husband and wife. They have so many things planned for them this summer. Each week is devoted to a different place, this week is Italy week. They do activities all day that have something to do with Italy. They have a field trip planned each week, and this week was to Stevie B’s, a local pizza place. They took the kids on a tour of the place, in the kitchen and each kid got to make their own pizza. That is all Christian talked about last night. They also have an in ground pool so on the other days they spend time swimming.
Tonight we went out to dinner with Jennifer, she’s my best friend since we met in 9th grade. She is awesome and the kids love her. She doesn’t live close anymore so any chance we have to meet up we do. She teaches so I’m a little jealous that she is out for the summer!!

No Longer In Kindergarden....
Today was the last day of school, which means Christian is officially a first grader! It's still a little scary to hear, "I have a first grader!" He was so excited to finish the year and start his summer vacation. He had a great year and wonderful teachers. I don't think I could have asked for better ones. Last Friday they had there end of the year program and it was so cute. Each class sang songs, and then it was followed by a party in each class room where they where presented with there diplomas. This year was full of first, and we are excited to see what next year brings. Here are some photos from Friday.
